When Katherine Moloney began flying, she did not know any other female pilots. Keen to connect with likeminded women, she organised a lunch at Brighton City Airport. Forty people from across the industry showed up and Elevate Her Aviation was born. "We had the most amazing day," she said. "It was quite emotional. When I came away, I knew I wanted to take this forward in a more meaningful way." http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/24_hours/popular/93433/The_female_aviator_helping_women_get_their_wings Biometrics are the new face of airport security http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/24_hours/popular/93432/Biometrics_are_the_new_face_of_airport_security Wed, 02 Aug 2023 12:35:36 GMT The company CLEAR claims to provide a biometric solution for airport security. Available at over 50 airports, CLEAR lanes provide identity verification for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The service does not replace physical security screening; the primary benefit of enrolling in CLEAR is that you get to leapfrog to the front of the airport security screening line. Physical screening, in either the PreCheck or standard screening lanes, must still be conducted. The privilege of such line jumping costs as much as $189 annually. CLEAR verifies that a person is who they claim to be using that person’s fingerprints or iris scans. To obtain such a level of identity authentication requires that the identity of the person be verified with certainty during their registration process. There is no room for error — if the biometrics are attached to a person who is not who they claim to be, airport security can be compromised. http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/24_hours/popular/93432/Biometrics_are_the_new_face_of_airport_security Aer Lingus Restarts Pilot Training Program http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/24_hours/popular/93420/Aer_Lingus_Restarts_Pilot_Training_Program Tue, 01 Aug 2023 16:29:41 GMT Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus has restarted its pilot training program in order to combat pilot shortages.
